Our Approach
We conduct stakeholder-driven interdisciplinary research to develop win-win solutions. By leveraging geospatial technology and social-ecological science, we build decision support tools that address conservation problems and inform community resilience in tropical island environments. We work on a variety of projects integrating land and sea processes into spatial planning, fisheries management, quantifying and mapping biodiversity and ecosystem services, and scenario planning to inform management and climate change adaptation. In addition to developing the evidence to transform decisions, we create tools, build capacity through learning exchanges and trainings, and engage managers and community leaders to accelerate the technology uptake and enhance the impact of successes.
